(ABBS) has developed Vehicle Global Acceleration Mitigation (VGAM) technology, to mitigate the effects of under-body blast (UBB).\u00a0 The rapid application of VGAM counter-impulse (downforce) to the protected vehicle dramatically reduces its jump height in response to a UBB event.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2015 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/abbs-usa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/VGAM-Demonstration.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"924\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.asst-technologies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/VGAM-Demonstration.jpg 924w, https:\/\/www.asst-technologies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/VGAM-Demonstration-300x126.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.asst-technologies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/VGAM-Demonstration-768x322.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 924px) 100vw, 924px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>ABBS Linear Rocket Motor (LRM) effectors (1) stabilizing a Snatch Land-Rover light ground vehicle (2,3) with &lt;0.5 metre jump height over a 6kg(TE) buried mine blast (4)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>ABBS\u2019s solution uses rocket-motor effectors on the upper vehicle surfaces to deliver a fast, counter-acting impulse within milli-second blast timescales to counteract UBB global acceleration taking the vehicle \u2018weight\u2019 up to <em>c.<\/em>1,000tons for just the 30-100ms required to counteract the mine\/IED impulse loads;\u00a0 mitigating:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>global acceleration and<\/li>\n<li>subsequent rollover and\/or slam-down of the vehicle, and keeping occupant loading within the capability (<em>c.<\/em>9msec<sup>-1<\/sup>) of energy-absorbing seat systems.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Solid-propellant rocket motor effectors provide low-mass, high-speed delivery of counter-measure impulse, with low Insensitive Munition (IM) signature when combined with ABBS\u2019s electronic safety, arming &amp; ignition sub-system.\u00a0 The ABBS VGAM system concept is demonstrated in full-scale vehicle rig firings in the US &amp; the UK.\u00a0 Integration and validation of this novel system technology can now mitigate UBB global-acceleration threats to multiple classes of ground vehicle, reducing occupant casualties &amp; injuries whilst preserving vehicle mobility and efficiency, strengthening the resilience &amp; survivability of Ground Distribution Platforms.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-2012 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/abbs-usa.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/VGAM-Implementation-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"635\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.asst-technologies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/VGAM-Implementation-2.jpg 635w, https:\/\/www.asst-technologies.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/VGAM-Implementation-2-300x137.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 635px) 100vw, 635px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Operating Concept of ABBS Vehicle Global Acceleration Mitigation (VGAM) system:\u00a0 a protected vehicle (1) subjected to an under-body blast (UBB) threat, resulting in (2) the fast actuation of\u00a0 linear rocket motor (LRM) countermeasures on the vehicle roof to counter UBB-driven global acceleration<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For more details about Advanced Blast &amp; Ballistic Systems range of Ground Vehicle Protection products, please <a href=\"http:\/\/abbs-usa.com\/index.php\/contact\/\">contact us<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ABBS have issued a response to the US Rapid Reaction Technology Office&#8217;s (RRTO) RFI relating to Thunderstorm for Contested Logistics.
